Problem

I needed an employer-ready portfolio that presents me at the intersection of network engineering, cybersecurity, and business, built as a dynamic, containerized web app for MIS 587 rather than a static page.

Approach

  • Planned and built the site in phases with an AI coding assistant, saving each plan and a prompt log.
  • Built a responsive Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS design system with accessible navigation and reduced-motion support.
  • Added a contact form that delivers to Discord, with validation and anti-spam checks.
  • Containerized it with a multi-stage Docker build, and added SEO metadata and security headers.
  • Set up a Cloud Build trigger on the main branch that builds the image with the site's build-time settings and deploys it to Cloud Run, with the contact webhook stored in Secret Manager.

Result

  • Lighthouse scores of 100 for performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO in local production builds.
  • Zero automated accessibility (axe-core) violations across the tested pages.
  • Deployed to Google Cloud Run at aleckinzie.com, built by a Cloud Build trigger on the main branch.
